The workgroup switches in the new MACH100 range are designed for use in control cabinets; they offer up to 24 ports. They are available as fixed port versions or modular workgroup switches. There are also variants with two optical 10 Gigabit uplinks, fanless cooling, redundant power supply and non-heating appliance power plug, or an external power supply. Additional features of the workgroup switches include extensive management and redundancy capabilities, as well as various configuration and diagnostic functions. A USB interface can be used to connect the ACA 21 autoconfiguration adapter, which can be used to save all configuration data as well as conveniently upgrade or downgrade the workgroup switches’ operating system.

The workgroup switches in the MACH100 range are available in different full Gigabit versions. They are highly specialized multifunctional devices, since they can assign ports to different subnetworks and deliver specifically targeted data packets within these networks. They can also handle routing between subnetworks. Because they tolerate temperatures from 0°C to +50°C, these workgroup switches can be installed in control cabinets without any need for powerful cooling systems. Fanless versions are also available.

Belden has introduced a new Layer 3 software that makes it possible to use all Gigabit Ethernet switches Hirschmann™ MACH1040 family as routers. Using wire-speed technology makes for extremely fast functions, which include not only static and dynamic routing, but also multicast routing (DVMRP, IGMPv1/v2/v3, PIM-DM) and router redundancy (VRRP, OSPFv2, RIPv1/v2).
