Description
The B&R lifecycle consists of four phases (Active, Classic, Limited, Obsolete), each immediately following the other. Every B&R product goes through all four phases, although the duration of each phase can vary depending on the product.
The following diagram provides a basic overview of the individual phases, their stages and the resulting consequential effects or obligations of the customer to act.

APC910 Phase‑Out & Transition to APC4100
The B&R Automation PC 910 (APC910) has long been a high‑performance industrial PC, However, it is now transitioning out of active production as B&R shifts toward its next‑generation successor, the Automation PC 4100 (APC4100).
The APC4100 is designed as a direct replacement, offering:
- Future‑proof performance with more powerful, scalable CPU options
- Greater flexibility due to freely configurable components
- Improved energy efficiency (including fanless Celeron and Core i3 models)
- Modern connectivity, such as dual DisplayPort, multiple storage formats (CFexpress, SSD, M.2), and 2.5 GbE networking
- Long‑term OS support, with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise included for 10 years of servicing
Importantly, the APC4100 maintains similar physical dimensions to the APC910, making it a drop‑in successor that supports easy retrofitting and upgrades in existing installations.

In short:
The APC910 is being gradually discontinued in favor of the APC4100, which provides significantly enhanced performance, scalability, and long-term lifecycle support while remaining compatible with existing APC910 installations.
